Filters little
Right after I installed it, the filter failed to filter. The water had a strong unfiltered chemical taste. I wondered if this was a return or used filter put back on the shelf and sold as a new filter. It is also a Sears ripoff as the price is too high. It is made by PUR so buy it elsewhere.

Kenmore Pur Ultimate II water - ice filter #9030
I have owned a Sears Coldspot Model 106.56572400 fridge for the last seven years.
The filter which came with it was a Pur Ultimate II. Part number 9030.
This filter goes by various part numbers. e.g. Whirlpool, etc.
This is the BEST water filter which I have ever tried. You DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Yes, I have to admit, that I have shopped the stores/internet; and bought the cheaper filters
which are compatible with my fridge. I have (and more importantly- the wife) noticed the difference.
Now, I have a three year-old girl and a 1.5 year old boy. I don't go cheap anymore.
Something about this filter JUST SIMPLY is better.
We don't have crappy water, or iron/sulfur, or anything. I would call our municipal water 'just average'.
We do not soften our water.
The filter itself is of sturdy construction, has good end caps, and the screw ridges at the top (to accept the
grill beauty cap) have never failed...
These filters are some of the best
I am guessing the previous comments were because you must flush the first 3 gallons before drinking. The first 3 gallons do have a chemical to clean the line.
